What I've Been Up To

Gosh!

Where does the time go?
And it's April on top of that.
What happened to March?

That's how busy I've been.
I have totally lost all concept of time, it seems.

Well, the wedding plans are rolling along.
I've finished all but one tablecloth.
The invites are printed and need to be assembled.
However, the engagment pictures may not happen this weekend
due to a prediction of 70% chance of rain.
That may put the invites seriously behind schedule.
We are cutting it close as it is already.
But, hey, things can't all go too smoothly, right?
I'm sure it will all be fine in the end.
At least, that's what I'll keep telling myself.
LOL!
Aside from that,
The chair back covers are 99% finished.
Yay!
I just need to finish a few touches and press them.
At the present time,
I am embarking on the transformation of 3 bridesmaid dresses.
I found an awesome clearance on black satin gowns
on the Internet
and thought they were perfect.
They turned out to be not so perfect afterall.
The fabric was  a sad disappointment, too thin and full of static
despite my best efforts.
No wonder they were on clearance for so cheap!
And they hung very loose and were just generally unflattering.
So, I have gone from our orginal plan to just shorten them
(they were floor length) to a pretty radical make over.
Here are my rather crude, unprofessional sketches
to illistrate a bit what I'm talking about.

I have half of the first dress done,
will move onto the second dress next week
and the third the first week of May.
Well, that's the plan anyway.

Beyond that,
we have the plans in place for the custom backdrops with lights.
I'll post those with pictures when we get into doing those.
I've recruited my husband for that project.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how these turn out!

Then on to the favors, the flowers and the food!

For now,
Sew Happy
