Flower Monday

It's Flower Monday here at my house.
It's the day that I wake up,
go into my office
and on my desk and find
a beautiful bouquet of love from my sweetie.

It's a great way to start off a new week, isn't it?

"Let Them Eat Cake"

Cake has been the topic around here lately,
and cupcakes for that matter.

The bride has finally made
some design choices that I think will
be absolutely
fantastic!

I can hardly wait to see it.

We've also decided to serve cupcakes, and we've been debating
flavors, colors
and,
the newest trend in all things cupcake,
cupcake wrappers --
Damask wrappers to be exact.
Did you know that they can cost upwards of $1.00
a piece??
Neither did I.
Talk about sticker shock!
We're working on a creative solution
that won't brake the bank.

In the mean time,
I've collected some fun and beautiful cakes
to sweeten up your day.

From what I can tell, ruffles seem to be a new trend in cakes.
I love it!

"It's a Girl!"

What musical, long-awaited words those were!

You were the first girl to join our family.
After 4 boys in a row, a little female balance was long over due,
let me tell ya.

My first words to your grandma when we called to tell
her about you were
"Get out that credit card, grandma.  We're going shopping!"

Needless to say, your closet lacked for nothing frilly or fun to wear.
And you became my little model, allowing me to go absolutely wild
creating pretty dresses with ruffles, lace and bows.
{[(oh, those hair bows were so fun!)]}
You quickly indoctrinated us into the world of little girls with all
its charm and drama.

Time has flown by so fast!

I think I blinked at some point
and
where there had been
a
little
girl,
was a young lady.

It kind of takes my breath away
just
how fast
all of those
milestones came and went.
 And now,
all of the sudden,
you are ready to take a
huge step
and become
a
wife
to a wonderful young man
who gives you all the love
and
respect
you
deserve.
Happy Birthday, Laura!
Oh,
and sorry this is a day late.

Love,
Mom

What I've Been Up To

Life has been pretty busy around here what with all the

We finally have many decisions made
and are gaining momentum towards
the
big day.

I have to say that, so far, things have gone pretty smoothly.
No major bridezilla moments to speak of.
I consider that to be a
really good
sign.
 {{knock on wood}}

I am making quick work of the sewing projects associated
with the reception.
I've completed 15 black satin table runners.
I have made 1 dozen white satin chair back covers.
(((((only 84 more to go))))

And
I
have
begun
cutting the circular white satin table cloths,
with a goal of 13
pending arrival of the last fabric order.

Why, do you ask, am I making white satin circular table cloths?
Well,
because I can.
{rolling eyes here}

No.

Because to purchase/rent them
would cost me far more than to just sit down and do it myself.
I'm saving tons, believe me, or I would even attempt it.
This is a do-it-yourself wedding reception.
Budget is really tight and a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, ya know?

Besides,
I have yet another daughter who may well come up with a man of her own
at any point in time and
announce that she, too,
would like to use
all the above
at
her
reception.

Let's hope that's w-a-y down the road a bit,
at least for finacial recovery's sake.

Enjoy a tiny, tiny preview of
some of
our
planning.
