Happy Thanksgiving!

Photobucket

I want to wish
all of you wonderful
people in Blog Land
a wonderful
&
peaceful
Thanksgiving Day.

Here I am...
stuck working.
Yes.
Bummer
I do medical transcription
here at home.
People still get hurt and sick
on Thanksgiving Day.
Someone has to do type out
all those visits.
Today, that person is me.
Sigh.

On the up side of things,
I was able to
talk to our
soldier
this morning.
He is in what he called "reception"
with 700 other recruits.

He got a cool hair cut,
lots of immunizations,
getting his teeth cleaned
and has been outfitted with a
brand
new
wardrobe.
It's cold, windy and raining
at Fort Sill, OK.
This little guy from
Sunny
Arizona
is getting a rude awakening
of just how cold
winter can be.
Could be worse.
It could be snowing.
That, I'm sure, will come.
Brrrrr.

Announcing....

My husband and I
are pleased to
announce
the
engagment of our son,
Samuel
to
his long-time girlfriend/best friend
Bobbie
(aka Barbara).
They are planning a
January 28, 2011
wedding
in the
LDS Temple
Mesa, Arizona.
We could not be happier!

AND

to add the frosting on the wedding cake for me...

This dear, sweet, beautiful daughter-in-law-to-be
has asked me,
ME..
to make her wedding gown.

I am humbled and honored at her request.

This is what she wants me to replicate with a few variations.

I am so totally excited!
  Watch for upcoming posts
on the trials and tribulations
and
JOYS
of sewing for a bride!

Of course, I am most
excited and grateful for this wonderful
couple who
will do
great things together
in
this life
as well as the next.
Plus... I might get a few more grandkids out of the deal (hehe).

Deck the Halls

I just want to thank
all you kind folks
for the
wonderful comments
and
support
I've recieved as a new comer
in
Blog Land.
This has truly
been one of the best
experiences
I've had thus far on the computer!

In the quest for the perfect
Wreath
for my front door this year,
I started
surfing the Net to see what was
fun,
different,
even wierd
in the world of
wreaths.

Here's some of
what I ran
across in
my search
for
the
perfect
wreath.

Here's to
Holiday Inspiration!
Enjoy.

Getting the kids involved
In the decorating is
Always a fun part of the Holidays.
This paper wreath is just the ticket for
An afternoon of Holiday crafts.

How about something straight out of the garden?
Here in the Southwest, gardens grow year round.
So, why not?
This wreath is made of green and red chillies
accented with leaves.

How's this for upcycling?
A wreath entirely out of
Now that's cool!
Right within a tight bugdet, too!

I took a double take on this one at first.
But what a GREAT idea!
What do-it-yourself diva doesn't have
a bunch of wood scraps around?
This wood wreath has style
with a capital
"S"

This one is my all-time favorite
and one that
I think
I am going to tackle
for my newest
wreath
Now I have something to do with
All that yarn that is
Multiplying
In my yarn bin.
Find this wreath here with a full tutorial
Love it!
It's a great site to look over, too.
Double bonus!

And of course...
...wreath cookies to
sweeten the season.

What I've Been Up To..Thanksgiving Table Runner and Sending Off a Son to The Army

Live has certainly been hectic lately!
Yes siree.
Where is November going?
Is it really the 18th?
Yipes!
Well, just to record that I am
actually accomplishing
something,
here's my update on my doings so
far this week.
First and foremost, my son, Matt, has made a life decision
and has enlisted in the Army.
he leaves for Boot Camp
Monday morning bright and early.
He won't be with us for our
traditional Thanksgiving Dinner
on Thursday,
So
We planned a special Thanksgiving Dinner and had it
last night.
I love, love, love having all my children
around me and
being able to enjoy the people
that they are becoming!
It ranks right up there with Christmas morning!
Here is Matt posing with the
cake
His sister and sister-in-law
made for him.
It was yummy too.
:)

This family dinner gave me the chance
to show off
my latest seasonal
dewing project.
A table runner.
Just simple
dtrips of fabric
dewn together,
machine quilted
snd bound together
in some of my favorite colors
of the season.
Here's my table
sll dressed up Holiday Style.
I'll do a tutorial after the Holidays on how I did it.
Life's too busy right now.
 I had a wonderful time
putting it together
knowing that it
would lay on
the table that
would bring my
family together.
All of them
Together.
Spouses, grandchildren
and significant others.
Together.
One.  Last.  Time.
Before he leaves.
Enjoy.

Sew Happy,
I'm sharing this project with THESE LINKY PARTIES

Hoo Am I?

NightOwlCrafting

1. Do you ever burp out loud in private or public?
Not really, at least when I can help it.
2. How often do you get sick each year?
I'm pretty lucky...I usually only get a cold a couple of times a year.  I can't remember the last time I was really sick.  Knock on wood.
3. Would you rather paint a room in your house yourself, or have someone else do it for you?
Both, depending on the painting project.  I really like to have a group and work together.
4. If you get 30 minutes to yourself, what do you do?
Right now, sew.  I'm preparing for a boutique, so that's eating up most of my time.
5. Do you allow people to wear shoes in your house?
Yes.  If I could do it all over again, no I wouldn't.

Hoo are you?
